POS systems for nail salons, spas and restaurants

Nail salons track tips by technician, restaurants take orders by table, bakeries need a fast counter. We learn how your shop works before recommending any hardware or software, then quote for your shop alone.

Choosing a system

What POS systems for nail salons have to handle

Checkout and cards

Swipe, tap, Apple Pay and Google Pay; printed or texted receipts.

Tips by technician

Tips are recorded per technician, so at closing you know who earned what without adding it up by hand.

Sales reports

Sales by day, by service and by staff, on your phone even when you are away.

Gift cards and regulars

Sell gift cards, run a points program and keep client numbers to invite them back.

Good to know before you call

  • How many staff, and how many stations or tables
  • How tips are split: by person, by percentage, cash or card
  • What you use now and when your card processing contract ends
  • Whether you need gift cards, points or booking in the same system
  • Restaurants: whether orders should print in the kitchen

Not sure about some of these? That’s fine, we will go through them on the phone.

POS systems

One counter, one system: checkout, tips, gift cards

We ask how your salon checks out and splits tips, then suggest the machine and software that fit, set it up and show your front desk how to use it.

FAQ

POS systems for nail salons: FAQ

How is a nail salon POS different from a plain card reader?

A plain reader only takes payments. A salon POS also records the service, who did it, each technician’s tips, gift cards and client numbers, so closing out tips and checking sales takes minutes.

How are card processing fees charged?

Every processor does it differently: a percentage of each sale, a fixed fee per transaction, monthly fees, sometimes equipment rental. We explain each line and compare the total cost against your sales before you decide.

Is taking cards on a POS secure?

Card hardware and software should meet the payment card industry’s PCI DSS security standard. We only recommend systems that do, and walk you through safe habits such as never writing down card numbers.

I am still in a card processing contract. Can I switch?

Many contracts carry an early termination fee. Send us the end date and the cancellation terms and we will work out whether switching now or waiting costs less.

Can the POS work with online booking?

It depends on the system. If you want bookings and checkout in one place, tell us early and we will pick a POS with booking built in, or one that connects to your website.

Does it work for restaurants?

Yes. Restaurants get a restaurant POS: orders by table, tickets printed in the kitchen, split checks and server tips. We ask how you serve before we pick one.
